Saturdays February 20, 27, March 6, 13, 20th 10:00am - 12:00pm Murphy Center (AKA Faith Formation Center)
Areas of Focus:
through study and prayer to see the major themes that gradually unfold through the Hebrew and Christian scriptures
the Bible can be described as “a text in travail”, 3 steps forward and 2 steps backward
we will attempt to connect the dots and to eliminate the irrelevant while zeroing in on what matters
basic assumption is that the biblical text mirrors the nature of human consciousness
Without going book by book through the bible, we will try to show how the prime ideas of scripture are already indicated in
capsulated form at the beginning of Hebrew Scriptures. From that early statement of the theme, we will proceed with something akin to a
character or theme development through the middle part of the Bible. By the end, especially in the Risen Christ and in Paul’s theology of the Risen Christ, we have a sort of
crescendo, the full revelation of the One we can trust to be a non-violent and gracious God, who is inviting us into loving union.
