A Message from John Gillen, Parish Manager

Although we’ll be seeing some changes within the Catholic education system - specifically Regionalization, for the 2013 - 2014 Academic Year, Saint Clare’s School will remain committed to its roots as a parish based school.  This commitment isn’t going to change much of the day-to-day governance: Mrs. Rossicone, as Principal will continue to oversee the educational and staffing concerns with the support of Mrs. Gallagher as Assistant Principal.  As Parish Manager, I will continue to assist in the financial governance which will include budgetary planning and fundraising efforts.  All of this will be done under the guidance and approval of Msgr. Richard Guastella, who as Pastor, will maintain overall authority.


As a parish based school, we are free to establish our tuition and fee schedule based on our own needs.  The rates are explained here for the 2013 - 2014 year which ultimately is an increase of $150.00 per student from the 2012 - 2013 Tuition and Fees paid per family.  (Recent history has been seeing a steady increase of $100.00 per student.)  A major highlight for the new rates is our streamlined fee schedule which will be “rolled into” just one General Fee and paid along with the payment plan you select.  (It is no longer due “up front.”)


The overall cost of educating a student at Saint Clare’s continues to increase and next year it is projected to be $4,701.00 per student.  By reviewing the 2013 - 2014 Tuition & Fee Schedule, it is evident that there is a gap in revenue.  This gap is closed through the generosity of those who support our fundraisers which includes the countless hours our HSA parents put in behind the scenes.  For that I am appreciative and look forward to next year’s planning which will not only be financially beneficial but will continue to strengthen the tradition of excellence going on 77 years!

Smart Tuition Enrollment
  • All new families must register with the SMART Tuition Management program.
  • Saint Clare’s uses this company to manage all tuition payments and fees throughout the year.

Payment Schedule
  • One Time Payment of tuition and general fee - due by July 1, 2013
    • Qualifies for one $75.00 Portobello Cafe Gift Card to be issued in August to the parent/guardian responsible for tuition payments
  • Eleven Month Payment Plan - July 2013 thru May 2014.
Tuition
  • Covers base salaries and benefits for all staff along with approximately 75% of utilities and maintenance costs. (The rest is shared with other parish groups that utilize the school building after hours.
General Fee
  • Covers the Smart Tuition fee, Student Information System (SIS) fee, Lunch Fee, Class Basket Fee, a new Technology Fee, a new Security Improvement Fee and other classroom related materials not covered by tuition or reimbursed by Mandated Services.
Parish Contribution
  • All registered parishioners expected to contribute an annual minimum of $260.00 to the weekly offering.
  • All non-registered parishioners are asked to make a minimum offering of $260.00 to the Church of Saint Clare before December 31, 2013.
