Upcoming Events Sorted in date order I Want to Meet Spiderman and Mickey Mouse! Kyle is a lovable 3-year-old who loves Spiderman, Lightning McQueen, Buzz Lightyear and, of course, Mickey Mouse. His favorite toys to play with are his toy cars and trains and his favorite game is hide-and-seek. Kyle enjoys singing “Pop! Goes the Weasel” and “Five Little Monkeys,” and his favorite foods are pizza and French fries. When he was just two weeks old, Kyle’s doctor told his mother that he had a rare condition called methylmalonic academia. This is an inherited metabolic disorder in which the body cannot break down certain proteins which build up and attack the body’s major organs. This can lead to organ failure, visual impairment, seizures, a coma, or even death. In Kyle’s case, he has already experienced vision loss and he must follow a severely protein restricted diet and daily medication regimen. For his wish, Kyle wants to meet his heroes, Spiderman and Mickey Mouse, at their “homes” at theme parks in Orlando, Florida. Get your autograph book ready, Kyle, because your wish is about to come true! CLICK HERE TO READ MORE AND DONATE Dining to Donate Fundraiser to support St. Edward Food Pantry. Stand Together for Autism Requested by: Joanne Nuzzo, Director of Special Events On Sunday, October 16th, Borough President James P. Molinaro will be holding his second annual “Stand Together for Autism Services on Staten Island” event at the Michael J. Petrides School, 715 Ocean Terrace in the school auditorium, beginning at 1:00 p.m. The goal is to fill the auditorium with Staten Island families, friends and caregivers of those living with autism to join us as we hold a Community Information Open House and call on government to do more to help the autism community. Staten Island has one of the highest rates of autism in New York State. In that vein, Borough President Molinaro continues to hold this event to let Staten Island’s autism community know that they do not stand alone in their fight for services they need and deserve.
